Coastal fog, early October
I drove out three mornings in a row hoping for clear light over the headland. Each time the fog sat on the water until nearly ten. By the third day I gave up waiting and started photographing the fog itself: the way it erased the far shore, the lighthouse appearing and disappearing every few minutes.
Those turned out to be the only frames from the trip I still like. Soft, low contrast, mostly grey. Not what I planned, which is usually how the good ones happen.
Settings did not matter much. A tripod, a slow shutter, and patience mattered more.
